Wood Painting

Wood moves, so prep matters

Wood takes on moisture in Central Florida humidity and gives it back in the sun. That movement is why paint on wood cracks, peels and opens at the joints. We check the wood for moisture and soft spots before any coating goes on. Loose paint is scraped, surfaces are sanded smooth, and bare wood gets a primer that seals the grain and helps the finish hold on fences, railings, porch posts, shutters, siding and pergolas.

Joints, seams and nail holes are filled and caulked so water stays out and lines read crisp. Inside, trim and paneling are sanded and finished with clean edges at walls and floors. Paint is not the only option for wood. If you want the grain to show, stain may suit the surface better, and our staining page covers that service. We walk through both and recommend what fits the wood and its exposure.

Questions

Wood Painting FAQs.

Should I paint or stain my wood?

Paint gives solid color and covers imperfections. Stain lets the grain show and wears differently. See our staining page for that option, and we can recommend which suits your wood.

Why is my wood paint peeling?

Usually moisture in the wood, missing primer on bare spots or open joints letting water behind the paint. We address those causes during prep rather than painting over them.

Do you paint deck floors?

Our wood painting covers the vertical parts of decks, such as railings, posts and balusters. Walking surfaces take a different kind of wear, and we can discuss options for them on site.
